Persuasive Essay Football - 759 Words
Football is often labeled as a dangerous, unsafe sport, but there are many good things that come along with playing football. In the past two weeks I have learned about the risks that accompany football. Many kids suffer with concussions and face injuries from the sport, which scares many people away. But, despite the risks and the unsafe label, I would allow my child to play football because it promotes health, builds friendships, and helps gain toughness. The first reason why I would let my child play football is because it promotes health. Football is a physically demanding sport where you need strength, agility, endurance, and hand-eye coordination. Friendships are important because for a child, socializing and forming relationships are very important in growth and development and for the real world. In an arti cle by Sunny Griffis, titled ââ¬Å"The Advantages of Playing Footballâ⬠, it states ââ¬Å"Competitive sports help teach teamwork, which translates into selflessness, cooperation and better communication skills.â⬠By allowing your child to play this sport, you promise them to learn the skill of communication. This allows them to make friends and talk to people much easier. The last reason is building toughness, it would help my child learn to get through the pain and at the end of the day can get through anything. In an article by Winning Football titled ââ¬Å"Developing Mental Toughness In the Youth Football,â⬠gives reasons to support this. The article states, ââ¬Å"At the youth level, the higher the level of competition the greater the importance of mental toughness is to the success of your team,â⬠It teaches your kid to get through the torture, it all ends and the result will be worth it. In their future they can have the mindset to get through anything, w hether its physical or mental.
